Fire mock drill


Fire safety is the set of practices intended to reduce the destruction caused by fire. Fire safety measures include those that are intended to prevent ignition of an uncontrolled fire, and those that are used to limit the development and effects of a fire after it starts. Preparedness and practice are the essentials to minimize the effects of a fire accident. To create awareness among students about the fire escape routes and to practice the routine , a mock fire drill was conducted at Orchids The International School Jalahalli on 18th July 2016. The mock fire alarm was sounded at the appointed time and all the students accompanied by their teachers and support staff assembled in a matter of minutes in a well organized manner.Once all the students assembled in the open assembly area a demonstration was given about how to extinguish a fire using a fire extinguisher. Mr.Ramesh Raju – Security-in-charge gave an informative talk about sources of fire, types of fire and fire extinguisher. The safety measures to be taken and the precautionary measures that has to be taken if a fire breaks out. He emphasized on measures to be followed in using the extinguishers, checking the knob pointer and targeting the base. The entire operation was carried out without a hint of panic and a clear understanding of the motive and purpose.
