Grade 6 visit to Weaving Loom


Students of Grade 6 of Orchids the International School-Nagarbhavi, one of the best CBSE schools near Moodalapalya, were taken to weaving loom for the lesson “Fibre to Fabric”. The students were made aware that a loom is a device used to weave cloth and tapestry. The students were shown the major components of the loom like the warp beam, heddles, harnesses or shafts shuttle, reed and takeup roll. In the loom,the students saw the yarn processing which includes shedding, picking, battening and taking-up operations. The students had a unique and different learning outside the class room. They brought back samples of varieties of threads used in the looms.
