Reopening Day and Investiture Ceremony


The Investiture Ceremony of Orchids The International School for the academic session 2016-2017 was held on the 4th of July 2016 in a special ceremony at the school Assembly Hall. The event was presided over by Group Captain Mr Amit Pushkar, Chief Operations Officer, Indian Air Force, Bangalore & the school Principal, Ms Manjula. It was conducted with a high degree of zeal and enthusiasm.Prior to our investiture ceremony, students were nominated by teachers who considered discipline, academics and behavioural aspects of students as the qualifying criteria, so that they can be role models to their fellow schoolmates. The whole school was made aware of the unique election process that takes place in school, which in turn familiarized them on how democracy works in the country.During the investiture ceremony, the newly elected members of the school’s senate were officially vested with their powers and positions. Student Council Induction is extremely important as it gives them a green signal to start off with their daily activities.The involvement of the students’ community in day today functioning of the school is of great significance since we believe in child centric approach. The program began with the ceremonious lighting of the lamp, prayer and school song. The welcome speech was rendered in four different languages-English, Hindi, Kannada and French. This was followed by the traditional handing over of the responsibilities by the Ex-Student Council to the newly elected council members. Parents put on the blazers to the elected members and made them feel proud and realize their responsibility towards their elected position. The students then marched in turns to the Chief Guest and Principal for receiving their leadership badges and sashes. Principal administered the oath and all the members of our newly elected student council took the oath in front of the whole school promising everyone that they would be true to their posts and duties assigned to them. The group song which was rendered by the choir as a part of the cultural itinerary was a humble dedication to the newly elected leaders and was truly awe-inspiring. The student representatives were highly motivated as the song conveyed that Determination, Dedication & Perseverance are the highest qualities that students should possess to make their life more meaningful. The President, Kaushik of Grade 8, shared his thoughts on taking this esteemed responsibility. The chief guest Mr Amit Pushkar addressed the assemblage and congratulated the newly elected cabinet. He emphasized on discipline and values amongst students. The ceremony concluded with Vote of Thanks by the Vice- President, Adithya Dharanee. The National Anthem was sung by the choir with due respect.
