'Beautify My City Walls' drive

At Orchids The International School – Masjid Bunder, a well renowned CBSE school near Marine lines believe that, ‘A picture is worth a thousand words’ is the idea behind Wall Art or the Art of Graffiti and this was also the idea behind ‘Beautify My City Walls Drive’ organized by the NGO ‘Anybody Can Help’ under the guidance of Mr. Chiresh Sanghvi, the head of the NGO and Ms. Beena Nayaken, our visionary Principal supported by the Railway Department of India.  As the school believes strongly that as catalysts of the future of India, we have to involve our students in the betterment of the society and in turn our country, as values instilled at a young age, will lead to aware and responsible NexGen citizens.  So in keeping with the spirit of giving back to society on Saturday and Sunday, March 5 and March 6, 2016, Our school represented by 17 of our artistically-gifted children under the guidance our teachers set out to do their bit.  The assigned walls were on Platform Number 2 of Reay Road Railway Station, Mumbai.  Students of grades 5 to 7, along with their teacher, displayed their creativity by filling the white washed walls with theme-based colourful artwork! Strong messages on saving water and trees, avoiding spitting and littering public places, stopping the use of plastic, planting more trees, keeping our country clean by disposing garbage in garbage cans, using the bridges to cross railway stations or saving the girl child and educating the girl child were some of the slogans that were splashed across these otherwise plain walls! Every wall conveyed a wonderful message and the students have made the school extremely proud by this contribution of theirs towards society!
