August 29 is the birthday of Gidugu Venkata Ramamurthy Panthulu, who relentlessly fought for the introduction of ‘Vaaduka Bhasha’ or spoken dialect at all levels. The day is celebrated as the Telugu Language Day.
On this occasion, cultural programmes were organized at the school. This event, guided by the Telugu department headed by Ms. T. Rama Devi, formed a special assembly in OISH. The students of various classes, both from the primary and the secondary sections who are studying Telugu as their second language, participated with a lot of enthusiasm.
Several programmes – recitation of nursery rhymes, a ‘kavita’ welcoming the audience to Orchids, folk dances by the students, songs and skits were appreciated by all. The programme was compered by Ch. Navyasree and Nayana Bharathi of class X.
