The unification of Kannada-speaking regions of South India as the State of Karnataka is celebrated as the Karnataka Rajyotsava or Karnataka Formation Day. At Orchids The International School in Jalahalli, Bangalore, the Karnataka Rajyotsava was celebrated with great grandeur. The celebrations were a complete package with traditional dance, skit, singing, and cultural performances.
The celebrations began with the traditional dance by Grade III, IV and V Kannada students ‘Hachevavu Kannada da deepa..’ and the audience was captivated with their astounding performance. The dance was followed by the speech given by Master. Pradyumna of Grade V who enlightened the audience with the importance of Rajyotsava celebration in Kannada. To depict the different speaking styles in Karnataka, students of Grade IV presented a wonderful skit.
The little orchideans from Grade I and II sang a song by Dr. Rajkumar ‘Hutidare Kannada nada dalli hutabeku…..which kept the audience at the edge of their seats. The Karnataka Rajyotsava ended with the state anthem. It was indeed a beautiful journey for the students and the participants to showcase the values and cultures of their resident state Karnataka. Special thanks to the faculty in Kannada Mrs. Indramma and her team to make the programme a big success.
