K1 – Visit to a Fire Station

K1 children had the topic ‘Elements of Life’ (Fire) as a part of their curriculum and they were taken to a fire station on 9th December 2015, in order to teach them about fire safety. Children were taken during school hours and the bus ride was well enjoyed by them. At the Fire station, a demonstration of how fire is extinguished was conducted. The sound of siren and signals and other features of a fire engine were also highlighted to the children. A uniformed fireman then addressed the children and spoke about the various equipment he used such as –oxygen cylinder, helmet etc. The little ones were given a chance to sit inside the vehicle and ring the bell, which they very eager to do! They were very curious and posed many questions which were answered by the members at the Fire station.
