“Charity or philanthropy an act that helps you share your resources with others who need them the most. It is all to do with the balancing of wealth in society. It cheers you and also enables you improve your productivity and efficiency in your regular work. It gives you solace and satisfaction. It helps you to set an example for the next generation to follow”
Keeping this view in mind, Orchids- The International School, Malad had organized a Daan Utsav Week from 03/10/2016 to 07/10/2016.
Daan Utsav was formerly known as The Joy of Giving Week. The Joy of Giving Week (JGW) is a “festival of philanthropy” that aims to become a part of the Indian ethos, with the Week being celebrated every year covering Gandhi Jayanti by engaging the people through “acts of giving” – money, time, resources and skills – spanning the corporate, NGO and government sectors, schools, colleges and the general public.
The children were explained the meaning and the importance of giving and sharing with those in need. The week saw children happily and enthusiastically donating their clothes, toys, books and most importantly food requirements like rice, sugar, ghee, oil, etc.
The week successfully accomplished the Daan Motto and also left behind the motivation of giving and helping in the minds of the children.
