Grade IX – Physical Features : Glaciers

Glaciers are large masses of thickened and compressed ice. What makes them unique is their ability to move. The Students of grade IX of Orchids The International School – Mumbai studied glaciers as part of their Geography curriculum through the chapter ‘Physical Features’. The students studied glaciers like The Gangotri, The Kamet, The Lady Of Keylong and The Siachen in depth. Along with its physical features, location and benefits to man; they even studied how global warming has affected the glaciers. The harsh similarity that they came across was the prediction of the complete melting of these glaciers within the next decade. All in all, this activity inculcated a sense of responsibility in the students and they vowed to do their bit to reduce global warming.
