Grade 4 students of Orchids The International School-Thane, one of the best schools near Kalwa, had a topic on ‘Countable and Uncountable Nouns’ in the English Language. The concept was revised in the classroom in an interesting manner using pictures. Cut-outs of food items were kept in a bag. Students randomly chose two pictures from the bag and pasted them in the appropriate category –countable or uncountable noun. The concept of singular & plural was also touched on, to know which type of noun takes plural form. The students then applied their knowledge of these types of nouns to frame grammatically correct sentences. Each student got an opportunity to come forward and speak confidently. The objective of the lesson was thus met through this practical approach.
