The sacred day of the Chaitra Shukla Pratipada for the Hindus is known as Gudi Padwa in the Maharashtrian terminology. It is observed on the 1st day of the month of Chaitra, in fact Gudi Padwa marks the New Year for the Maharashtrians. Bringing in Maharashtra’s New Year should not be restricted only to Maharashtrians. At Orchids International, Mumbai students from every caste and religion participated in celebrating ‘Gudi Padwa’.
A skit has been performed and the skit had a message at the end and a song. The students explained the essence of marking this day and values to be observed in the New Year. Students Shrushti Kadam and Priyansh Shah (Grade 1Aed) spoke about how the gudi is prepared and importance of the Gudi Padwa.
