India is a country that has experienced continuous oppression for almost two hundred years. This foreign exploitation knew no bounds and it would have been the same if Indians did not protest at their loudest. As everything requires a flag-bearer to show the path, the Indian freedom struggle was no exception. Gandhiji, also known as Bapu (the father), was one of those flag bearers. When British rulers were crushing Indians under their boots with heavy taxes and many other oppressions, Gandhiji appeared as a guiding light and showed the right path to the nation. Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti is therefore significant to every Indian. We pay homage to this great soul who gave a large part of his life to redeem Indians from a period of continuous enslavement.

People from every religion took part in it and boldly proclaimed that they would not cooperate with any policy issued by the British Government. As all the policies were directly destructive to the Indian citizens, Gandhiji stepped forward to abolish them.
