Answer : Add the given points as:

Therefore,
Qn1.PNG Since the elephant scored the highest point and the tortoise scored the lowest point, the elephant won the game and the tortoise lost the game.


Guess and Tell

Question 2: Prabha is going to her grandmother, who lives in the next village. She wants to take 15 kg sugar cane, 7 kg apples and 8 kg tomatoes. She has to cross a river. In the boat, she can take 25 kg weight. Can she carry all the things?

Answer:Since Prabha wants to take 15 kg sugar cane,7 kg apples, and 8 kg tomatoes, the total weight of the things she wants to take is:
15 + 7 + 8 = 30 kg
We are given that she can carry 25 kg weight in the boat.
Since 30 is more than 25, she cannot carry all the things.


Question 3: Write the missing points.

Answer:Find the missing numbers.
Since 21 – 5 = 16, we can write 16 + 5 = 21
Since 32 – 8 = 24, we can write 24 + 8 = 32
16 + 13 = 29
Since 35 – 5 = 30, we can write 30 + 5 = 35
Since 30 – 7 = 23 , we can write 23 + 7 = 30
Therefore, the correct answer is:

Since the monkey scored the highest points, the monkey is the winner this time.

Question 4: Have you seen the two sides of a rupee coin? Which side has 1?

Two at a Time

Question 6: Chintu and Mintu went shopping. They bought some things. To pay they used notes and coins, but only two at a time.

Out of these, which two can they use to buy the things below? They can use the same note or coin more than one time.

Answer:To buy a book they should use Rs 5 + Rs 5 = Rs 10
To buy the football they should use Rs 20 + Rs 20 = Rs 40
To buy the kurti they should use Rs 50 + Rs 10 = Rs 60
To buy the doll they should use Rs 20 + Rs 5 = Rs 25
To buy the bat, they should use Rs 10 + Rs 10 = Rs 20


How Fast Can You Add?

Question 7: Do these
a) 9 + 4 + 1 =
b) 5 + 5 + 7 =
c) 6 + 5 + 4 =
d) 7 + 3 + 8 =
e) 8 + 3 + 2 =

Answer: First combine two numbers to make a ten and then add the third number in 10. You can add the given numbers as:
a) 9 + 4 + 1 = 9 + 1 + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14
b) 5 + 5 + 7 = 10 + 7 = 17
c) 6 + 5 + 4 = 6 + 4 + 5 = 10 + 5 = 15
d) 7 + 3 + 8 = 10 + 8 = 18
e) 8 + 3 + 2 = 8 + 2 + 3 = 10 + 3 = 13


Killer Lizard

Question 8: A lizard moves from one hole to another. As it moves, it eats insects hidden in the hole. The number of insects in each hole is shown. The lizard can move only along the lines.
