Question 1 :

Look at the pictures given above. What kind of work are people doing in both the families?

Answer :

Venu’s mother is cooking food, and her father is sweeping the floor by a broom.Rani’s mother is kneading the dough.

Answer : Yes, my family is somewhat similar to that of Venu’s family. We also help each other by dividing most of the routine household works in my family. At dinner time, we all sit together and have our food. After finishing this work, I go out to play and my parents read their favourite books and newspapers or watch the TV.

Answer : Yes, we all eat dinner together. But father has his breakfast earlier than others as he has to leave for work.

Answer : We all have our food together, so no one eats last in the family. But my brother is a slow eater and finishes his meal last.

Answer : My grandfather does not help cook food because he does not know how to cook and has never been inside a kitchen.

Answer : Yes, my mother or grandmother gives me herbal medicines if I get sick.

• If I have a cold or cough, I have milk with turmeric or a kadha of ginger, honey, and lemon.
• If I have a toothache, then grandmother gives me a cotton blob soaked in clove oil to keep it on that tooth.
