The poet C. Fletcher wrote the poem ‘Wake up!’ to describe a lovely day. The poet urges the reader to get up and play. He further explains the birds singing in the trees and the buzzing of the bees. Just as everyone is up like the cow, the horses, the ducks and the sheep, everyone should dress up and come out to play

Question 1 : What do you think the birds say to each other?

Answer : I think that the birds greet each other in the morning.


Question 2 : Who are already awake?

Answer : The creatures like bees, birds, cows, horses, and ducks are already awake.


Question 3 : Which are the creatures who wake up before the child?

Answer : The creatures like bees, birds, cows, horses, ducks, sheep, and chicken wake up before the child does.


Let’s listen and talk

Question 2 : Imagine that a cow, a horse, a duck, and a chicken are meeting for a morning meal. What would they say to one another? Talk about it.
(Act it out, it’s fun !)

Answer :
Horse: Hello all! Let’s eat something for the morning meal.
Cow: Mooo! Yes, it’s been a long time since we had a meal together.
Duck: Oh! But I already had my meal – a worm and some fresh seeds.
Chicken: It’s great when you come together to cook, eat and enjoy our food together. Come, let’s eat together again; I bet you will love it.
