Let’s talk

Question :
Ram is a curious little boy. He is always asking questions. One day he came home and asked his grandfather questions like-
1. Why can’t we look at the sun during a solar eclipse?
2. Why can’t we touch the sun?
3. Why can’t we go out to play in the dark?
Discuss these questions with your teacher and class. Do you know the answers?

Answer :
1. We cannot directly look at the sun as the harmful rays of the sun will affect our eyes.
2. The sun is far as well as hot. Hence, we cannot touch it.
3. We cannot go out to play in the dark as we may not be able to see anything.


Word building

Question : Fill in the blanks with words from the poem which rhyme with the coloured words in the sentences.

Answer :

Do you know the colour of snow?
Have you found who made the clouds?
Put the glass in the sink after you finish your drink.

Answer : Dogs and cats are not friendly; they cannot be together so they fight.


Question 1(b) : Why do we walk across the road, and not run?

Answer : There are many vehicles moving on the road, so to avoid any accidents we should walk on the road rather than run.


Question 1(c) : Why do people like ice-cream?

Answer : Ice-cream is cold, sweet, and flavoured food that is liked by many people.


Question 2 :
Write down at least two questions using ‘why’?

Answer :
a) Why are you late today?
b) Why didn’t you bring your lunchbox?
