Using Emotional Intelligence in Tally marks, Fractions, and Pictographs

# Emotional Intelligence for Class 4 Maths

The concept of IQ and EQ are interrelated with each other. Here students will learn about emotional intelligence, which is known as the emotional quotient or EQ. Also, how to measure emotional intelligence. This content also connects with the mathematical concept of pictographs, tally marks, and fractions.

## What is Emotional Intelligence?

Emotional intelligence or emotional quotient is the ability to assess, identify and control the emotions of oneself, others, and groups.

In workplace skills, use of EQ:

• Teamwork
• Successful relations
• Service orientation
• Initiative
• Collaboration

### Emotional Intelligence Test:

Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Test: This test is based on problem-solving tasks.

Daniel Goleman model score: This test is based on emotional competencies.

Relation between IQ and EQ:

Where w = power of judgment, ability to understand others.

The range for EQ:

Emotional quotient Emotional Intelligence level
20-35 Low
36-51 Moderate
52-67 Above average
68-83 High
84-100 Very high

Also,

To build success, EQ is more important than IQ.

## Question 1:

Gita and Sita Are Best Friends. The Power of Judgment of Both Friends Is Equal to 2. The IQ of Gita Is Equal to 40, and for Sita Is 30.

1. Find the EQ of Both Gita and Sita.
2. What Is the Intelligence Quotient Level for Both of Them?
3. What Is the Difference in Emotional Intelligence Between Them?

1. For Gita:
The power of judgment (w) = 2
IQ = 40
From the formula for EQ and IQ,
EQ = W × IQ
EQ = 2 × 40
EQ = 80
For Sita:
The power of judgment (w) = 2
IQ = 30
From the formula for EQ and IQ,
EQ = W × IQ
EQ = 2 × 30
EQ = 60
The EQ of Gita is 80, and the EQ of Sita is 60.
2. The intelligence quotient of Gita is 80.
80 belongs to the range of 67-83, which is a high intelligence level.
So, the intelligence quotient level of Gita is high.
The intelligence quotient of Sita is 60.
60 belongs to the range of 52-67, which is an above-average intelligence level.
So, her intelligence quotient level is above-average.
3. Now, the difference = (80 – 60) = 20
The EQ difference between Sita and Gita is 20.

## Question 2:

Rana and Asim Are Twin Brothers. The Success of Both of Them Is Equal to 178. The IQ of Rana Is 148, and Asim’s Is 80.

1. What Is the EQ of Asim, and Identify the EQ Level?
2. Find the EQ Level for Rana.

1. For Asim:
Success = 178
IQ = 80
Now, Success = EQ + IQ
From this formula, EQ = Success – IQ
EQ = 178 – 80
EQ = 98 The EQ of Asim is 98, and his EQ level is very high.
2. For Rana
Success = 178
IQ = 148
Now, Success = EQ + IQ
From this formula, EQ = Success – IQ
EQ = 178 – 148
EQ = 30
The EQ of Rana is 30, and the EQ level is low.

## Question 3:

In a Class, the EQ and Power of Judgment of 5 Students Are Given Below in a Tally Mark Form. Find the IQ of Each Student.

Name W EQ
Sana 1
Ram 3
Bijoy 2
Moni 1

We have from the formula for EQ,
EQ = W × IQ

Then IQ =
EQ / W

Name W EQ IQ=
EQ / W
Sana 1 35
35 / 1
=35
Ram 3 39
39 / 3
=13
Bijoy 2 80
80 / 2
=40
Moni 1 33
33 / 1
=33

## Question 4:

Rima and Sima Are Two Sisters. The IQ of Both Sisters Is Equal to 120. The EQ of Rima Is 100, and That of Sima Is 105.

b) ‘The Power of Judgment’ of Sima Is:

a) For Rima:
IQ = 120
EQ = 100
From the formula for EQ and IQ,
EQ = W × IQ
We know that ‘w’ is the ability to understand others.

Then, W =
EQ / IQ

W=
100 / 120

W=
5 / 6

Now,

‘The ability to understand others’ of Rima is W=
5 / 6

The correct option is option iv)

b) For Sima:
IQ = 120
EQ = 105
From the formula for EQ and IQ,
EQ = W × IQ
We know that ‘w’ is the ability to understand others.

Then, W =
EQ / IQ

w=
105 / 120

W = 78
Now,

‘The power of judgment’ of Sima is,W=
7 / 8

The correct option is option iii)

## Question 5:

Moni Read in Class 4. His Class Teacher Tests Their EQ in Class. The Data of Collection Is Given Below:

Range of EQ Number of students
20-35 20
36-51 10
52-67 23
68-83 16
84-100 21
1. Draw the Pictograph of the Given Data?
2. Find the Total Number of Students?
3. Find the Student’s Difference Between High and Low EQ.

1. a) The pictograph is given below:
2.  Range of EQ Numbers of students 20-35 36-51 52-67 68-83 84-100
3. Total number of students
= 20 + 10 + 23 + 16 + 21
= 90
4. We know the High EQ level range is 68-83.
so, the number of students with high EQ = 16
the low EQ range is 20-35
the number of students with low EQ = 20
the difference between students
= 20 – 16
= 4.
