We need numbers to count objects in our surroundings. Without numbers we cannot even manage a single day of our lives.
- A number is a count, we represent it through symbols like 1, 2, 3, .. etc, or words like one, two, three, … etc.
- There are countless numbers.
Example: How many butterflies are there?
Answer: There are 2 butterflies. We can write 2 in words as ‘two’.
