Organizing Writing

Concept: Sequencing of Events

Definition

Sequencing is a process that is used to explain an event in the order in which it happened.

Every event follows a sequence for instance:

First
This part is the starting of the event.
Examples: Ram woke up.
Next
This the main body of the event.
Examples: Ram brushed his teeth and took his bath. He got ready for school.
Last
This is the last part of the event.
Examples: Ram went to school.

Examples :

Boy
  1. This is a basket of vegetables.
  2. The chef is cutting the vegetables.
  3. The chef is cooking the vegetables.

How to Write a Sequence of Events?

  • Observe the pictures carefully.
  • Try to understand what the pictures are trying to tell.
  • See which event comes first, middle, and last.
  • Construct the sentences keeping in mind what you see in the picture.
