Question 2 :

Take a dupatta or a long piece of unstitched cloth. Drape it in different ways. In how many ways, could you wear it?

Answer :

Dupatta can be worn in many different ways. Women can wear it over salwar kameez or pair it with a lehenga. It can be used as a scarf. Men can also use a dupatta as a turban or with a sherwani.

Question 3 :

Did anyone wear it like a lungi or use it as a turban? In what other ways was the cloth worn?

Answer :

Yes, it can be worn like a lungi or a turban. I saw this when one of my classmates wore a turban using a dupatta during our drama competition. A dupatta can be draped like a saree for very young girls or paired with a lehenga.

Question 4 :

Look at any six garments at home. What differences do you find in their texture, their colour and design?

Answer :

There are many differences in the texture, colour, and designs—

  1. Some garments are in bright colours while some appear dull.
  2. Some garments are made of soft quality cloth, while some are rough in texture because of the fabric.
  3. The design of the garments is varied; some have beautiful complex designs while others have simple designs on them.

[Students should mention their experience based on the above lines.]

Question 5 :

Look at a thick cloth or a sack carefully. Can you see threads running along its length and breadth? You will find a similar pattern if you see any piece of cloth closely.

Answer :

Yes, I noticed the thick threads while looking at a thick carpet. When I used a magnifying glass, I saw the individual threads more clearly.
