My brother and I had a huge fight over the TV remote because he wanted to watch a football match and I wanted to watch my favourite TV serial. My father had to settle our quarrel and punish us by not giving us pocket money for two weeks.

Does this kind of thing happen in your house or in any of your friend’s house? What do you think about this?
This kind of thing does not happen in my house, but in my friend Shreya’s house, she is not allowed to stay at a friend’s place, but her brother is allowed. I think these rules are discriminating and unfair.

Do you think that there should be different rules for girls and boys, women and men?
No, there should not be different rules for boys and girls, men and women. [Students should mention their experience based on the above lines.]
Think – what would happen if girls had to follow rules made for boys and boys had to follow rules made for girls.

If you were to write a different ending for this story, how will you end it?
If I write a different ending for this story, I would write that Pilloo Aunty would inform the kulfi-seller about his mistake. Phali will insist Pilloo Aunty pay the kulfi-seller for 7 kulfis, not 5. Pilloo Aunty will feel very happy because of Phali’s honesty.

I think in my family my mother is like Pilloo Aunty. She always inspires me to be honest.

If Pilloo Aunty had paid less money to the kulfi-seller, then those children would think that such a dishonest act is acceptable, and they can take advantage of someone’s mistake. This would send a wrong message to the children. I would also think the same.

I think Akshay will drink water because he is tired and thirsty.
Why was Akshay confused?
Akshay was confused because when Anil served him water, he remembered his grandmother had asked him not to drink water and eat food in Anil’s house.

Akshay’s and Anil’s families are quite different. Maybe that is the reason why Akshay’s grandmother warned him not to eat or drink anything in Anil’s house.

In my family, both my parents make important decisions together. I think this is good because the crucial decisions are not taken by just one person but by both.

I would not feel good if only one person in my family made all the decisions. Before taking any decision, all the adult members should have a proper discussion.

Yes, I disliked the inappropriate touch of a fellow passenger when I was travelling to my uncle’s house by train.

If I were at Ritu’s place, I would not go to Meena’s house and inform my parents that Meena’s uncle had touched me inappropriately. [Students should mention their experience based on the above lines.]
What else can be done when such things happen? Discuss.
When such things happen, the children should inform their parents to take necessary actions against the offenders. If the child is uncomfortable sharing it with their parents, they can talk to other elderly persons with whom they are comfortable like teachers or relatives.
Everybody’s touch is not the same. Ritu did not like it when Meena’s uncle held her hand, but she liked to hold Meena’s hand. Why do you think there was this difference?
There was a difference because Meena’s touch was friendly, but her uncle’s touch was inappropriate and uncomfortable.
