A factual article about something that’s true in general must mostly be written in the present tense.

Example

In India, obesity and overweight are the health problems most of school children face, especially in urban and semi-urban areas. Urban school children are prone to consume food high in calories and few vegetables and fruits, which leads to obesity. Schools are important for the development of healthy food preferences among children.
