II. Punctuation

Punctuation in informal emails gives the reader an understanding of what you want to convey. Punctuation includes full stops, capital letters, commas, question marks, exclamation marks, colons and semi-colons.

1) How is the Comma Used in an Email Writing to a family member?

There should be a comma after the salutation. After the signature, a comma is used before adding the sender’s name.

    Example:

    Dear Annie,

2) How is the Exclamation Mark Used in an Email Writing to Your Relative?

You can also use an exclamation mark after the exclamatory sentences like the one shown below.

    Example:
    Hope you are doing great!
