Water—from where?
In the poem you read about rivers, waterfalls, lakes and springs. We get water from all these places. From where do you get water? Put a circle around those places that are either in your house or around it.

At home, where do you get drinking water from?
At home, we get drinking water from the tap and pipeline which is supplied by the municipality.
Do you have to go far to get water? How much time does it take to bring the water?
We do not need to go far to get water as we get the water from the taps connected to the pipeline. If water is not available through the pipeline, we get it from water tankers.
Do your neighbours bring water from the same place?
Our whole locality and the nearby area get water from the municipal water connection.
Why do we need to store water?
I have seen in my area that if the municipal water is not sufficient or does not come for a day or two, people call for a water tanker. Sometimes there is a shortage of water in the summer season as well. Thus, we need to store water in case any of the above problems arise.
Who fetches and stores water in your house?
My mother takes care of fetching water and storing it properly. Sometimes my father and my elder brother also help her.
Are there certain people who are not allowed to take water from there?
No, everyone is allowed to take water from there.
In your notebook draw pictures of any other containers which are used for storing water in your house. Write their names as well.
In my house, we also use these big water bottles for storing water. We call it ‘Pani ka Batla’.
Take a look at the pictures. If we fill them with water—

How could you tell?
- The lota will contain the least water.
- The bucket will contain the most water.
Chutki is confused!
What do you feel? Did Chhutki’s glass tumbler have less panna?
Chutki’s uncle just poured the panna from the steel tumbler into the glass tumbler. Therefore, Chutki’s glass tumbler did not have less amount of panna.
Given in the grid are some places where water is found. Find seven of them and put a circle around each. One has already been done for you.

In every row put a circle around one that is different from the others. Also tell how it is different.
- River, mountain, lake, pond, spring.
- Bathing, washing clothes, swimming, combing hair, kneading dough.
- Fish, duck, monkey, crocodile, tortoise
- Car, boat, bus, train, bicycle.
- Except for mountain, all other places such as river, lake, pond and spring are water bodies.
- Bathing, washing clothes, swimming and kneading dough require water. But, combing the hair does not require water.
- Only the monkey lives on land. The rest of them, i.e., fish, duck, crocodile and tortoise, live in water.
- Here, car, bus, train and bicycle move on land. But the boat moves over water.
