Question 1 :

Answer :

Yes, I have a friend Sheela who wanted to study but could not. Her mother is a housemaid, and her father died last year in a road accident. Since then, her mother is supporting the whole family by doing odd jobs. Still, she is not earning enough to support the family and send her daughter to school.

Question 2 :

Every child has a right to free education upto Class VIII. Do you think that all children are able to study up to Class VIII? Discuss.

Answer :

Although every child has the right to free education up to Class VIII, I do not think all of them can study up to Class VIII. In our country, the government provides all kinds of facilities to promote free education but many parents do not realize the importance of education. Many girls drop out of school in Class VI and Class VII because their parents think they do not need to be independent. They prepare their daughters for marriage, teach them how to do household tasks. In the case of boys, too, they drop out of school and start earning to support their family.

What will be the total cost of Anita’s 20 boxes?
Answer :

As mentioned later in the text, Anita and other people in her village get Rs. 35 for one kilogram of honey. So, if we calculate the total cost of Anita’s 20 boxes will be— 1 kg honey = Rs. 35
So, 12 kg of honey = 35 12 = Rs. 420
As she will earn 420 rupees from one box,
For 20 boxes she will earn = 420 × 20 = Rs. 8400
