Air Pollution

Try To Understand:

Pollution is the presence or introduction of harmful substances or contaminants into the natural environment, causing adverse effects on ecosystems and human health.

1. Pollution is caused by __________ (human activities, industrial waste, deforestation),

2. Pollution effects can include __________ (respiratory diseases, climate change, ecosystem damage).

3. To prevent it, we can __________ (reduce waste, use renewable energy, recycle).

What Is Air Pollution?

Air pollution is the stage at which poisonous gas, smoke, and dust mix with the air and make it dirty for respiration. These poisonous substances may come from cars, factories, waste burning, and natural disasters such as forest fires.

Causes Of Air Pollution

Vehicle Emissions -

Cars, buses, and trucks release harmful gases into the air. It is the biggest cause of air polluton.

Air Pollution

Factories -

Those factories that manufactures clothing, electronics and foods, as well as power plants are the sources of emission of harmful gases. Smoke and chemicals from factories pollute the air.

Air Pollution

Burning Waste -

Once garbage burns, especially plastic and other harmful material, that burning trash or dry leaves produces harmful smoke.

Air Pollution

Forest Fires -

Forest fires are primarily due to actually from heat ot lightening. Smoke from wildfires affects air quality.

Air Pollution

Household Pollution -

Using wood or coal for cooking or heating produces smoke.

Effects of Air Pollution:

Air pollution can cause coughing, sneezing, and shortness of breath. Acute health conditions, including asthma, bronchitis, or heart diseases, may be caused by it, particularly among children, elderly, and diseased persons.

  • Home to the Environment

Air pollution destroys the vegetation and crops. It makes it difficult for the plants to grow and also hurts animals as it destroys their source of food and water.

  • Dirtied Air:

Air pollution results in the creation of smog which does not allow us to see clearly. It can influence our emotions and even make outdoor activities risky to be performed.

  • Climate Change:

Carbon dioxide is the main example of the pollutants that contribute to climate change by trapping the heat that lies in Earth's atmosphere. This causes warmer temperatures and weather changes due to which the entire earth is affected.

Precautions Against Air Pollution:

  • Use Public Transport or Walk

Travel by buses or bicycles rather than by car; these reduce smoke and gas that causes vehicle emissions.

  • Planting trees and gardens

Trees absorb carbon dioxide and leave in the air the oxygen that in return cleanse it. Other than cleansing the air, they give a shelter to the wild animals, making the environment a greener place.

  • Reduce waste and recycle

Recycle paper, plastic, and glass. This gives a way of removing trash which otherwise would land in the landfills. This is an effort to reduce wastes through item reuse. It also minimizes pollution caused by burning rubbish.

  • Eco-Friendly Products

Use natural, non-toxic cleaners, paints, and other products. This ensures you're not releasing hazardous chemicals in the air.

  • Save Energy

Be a light, computer, and appliance turn-off activist. All these help minimize electricity use, which in most cases is produced in power plants that contribute to air pollution.
