Multiplication Calculator

The Multiplication calculator is a free and time-saving online tool. It is difficult to solve large numbers in less time. To make this problem hassle-free, you will find an easy and accurate way of getting Multiplication results in fractions of seconds.

What is Multiplication?

Multiplication is one of the four basic terms of arithmetic operations. It is the repeated addition of a group of equal numbers. Suppose the problem is 2 x 4. Then the product will be 8 as we added 2 for four times. This process is known as multiplication. It is denoted by the symbol “x” or ".".

THE FORMULA FOR MULTIPLICATION

Product = Multiplicand × Multiplier

The number of values in each group is called a "multiplicand" , and the number of equal groups is called a "multiplier".

Multiplying the values of these two groups gives the result that is called Multiplication.

Examples:

Example 1:

If there are 5 boys, each boy has 4 kites. Find the total number of kites.

Solution:

We can find the number of kites by adding the values, but it would take longer to get the answer i.e.

4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 = 20

The total number of kites is 20.

Let us try multiplication to get the answer quickly.

5 x 4 = 20

Here, we can see that we get the same result quickly. That is why multiplication is also called repeated addition.

Example 2:

If there are 9 boxes, each box has 8 apples. Find the total number of apples.

Solution:

We can find the number of kites by adding the values, but it would take longer to get the answer i.e.

8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 = 72

The total number of apples are 72.

Let us try multiplication to get the answer quickly.

9 x 8 =72

Here, we can see that we get the same result quickly. That is why multiplication is also called repeated addition.

How to Use the Multiplication Calculator ?

  1. Enter the first value, i.e., multiplicand.
  2. Enter the second value, i.e., multiplier.
  3. Click on the “Multiply” button.

Frequently Asked Questions

The multiplication symbol is denoted by x (cross) or “.” (Dot). This symbol connects the entire expression. For example, 3 times 2 can be expressed as 2 x 2 x 2.

There are mainly four parts of multiplication. Let us understand it with an example:
4 x 3 = 12

  • The first value (4) is called the multiplicand.
  • The second value (3) is called the multiplier.
  • The third value (12) is called the product.
  • The entire expression connects by x (Multiplication symbol).
