Higher Grade Robotics

The Higher Grade Robotics program at Orchids International School is extremely challenging, providing students with the opportunity to think creatively, use past learning, and employ problem-solving skills to develop, design and program sophisticated robotic systems. At this stage, learners move beyond introductory concepts to explore real-world engineering practices, complex programming, and automation.
 
The students will be using professional robotics kits of a much higher level of sophistication and includes advanced sensors, actuators, multiple microprocessors, AI and many more things that are simply not available in maker type kits. They will learn text-based programming languages, integrate robotics to IoT applications, and design systems that can make decisions and/or respond to any changes in their environment or task. Projects will include autonomous vehicles, robotic arms, environmental monitoring bots, and or prototypes for a current real-world problem.

The program also encourages students to research, innovate, and collaborate as a team, in order for them to think like engineers and innovative individuals. They will conduct the complete engineering design process, starting from idea development to prototyping, to testing and refine. By also providing competitions, challenges and group projects will allow them to build their confidence, learn to be a leader in a team, and to understand the importance of and impact of robotics on industries and communities.

We want to prepare students with the future skills of technology, critical thinking and innovation so that they can begin to prepare for the next step towards higher education and beyond into industry or other STEM activities.
