Middle Grade Robotics

At Orchids International School, our Middle Grade Robotics program takes young learners beyond the basics, helping them apply creativity, logic, and problem-solving to more sophisticated Robotics concepts. At this stage, students are ready to move beyond assembling simple models - and are now starting to engage in more complex mechanisms, programming logic, as well as applying the concepts to the real world.

By using advanced kits that are outfitted with multiple sensors, motors, and controllers, children are able to design and build robots that accomplish tasks: navigating mazes, detecting obstacles, or responding to changes in their environments. They also use block-based and beginner-friendly coding languages to create step-by-step instructions and thus development an understanding of automation and control systems.

At this stage, we focus on strengthening STEM skills, introduce the concept of analytical thinking, and nurturing better innovators. Students work in collaborative teams to simulate real-world problems from an engineering standpoint, requiring brainstorming, troubleshooting, and refining the designs

By the end of the program, we not only want students to have the technical skills developed, we want them to understand how robotics can offer a solution to a real-world problem preparing them for a future where technology and innovation coexist.
