The Starting Placement:

  • The board has a white square to each player's right-hand side.

  • The pawns occupy the second rank from either of the players.

  • The order of arrangement from left-hand side to the right in the first rank should be rook, knight, bishop, queen, king, bishop, knight, rook.

Aim of the game: Each player aims to checkmate the opponent's king. When a player’s King is trapped from all the directions, then he loses the game.
