“Education imparted by heart can bring revolution in the society.” Maulana Abul Kalam Azad said, believed, and lived this statement. Therefore, today the nation celebrates his birthday as National Education Day. India, as a nation, has always valued education and fought for a better education policy. Abdul Kalam Azad planted this seed of revolution in students’ hearts. As the first education minister of independent India, he initiated many educational reforms that are fruitful even today. Azad led our country towards a better future by setting up educational policies and boards like AICTE, UGC, and Secondary School Board. His contribution has been valued by his fellow citizens and taken further.
In 2008, India’s Human Resource Development department announced 11th November as National Education Day to pay homage to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. Since then, national education day is celebrated on the 11th of November every year.
As mentioned above, Abul Kalam Azad’s birthday is celebrated as National Education Day. On this day, the present education board of the country vows to take new initiatives to accelerate further growth in education.
It was September 2008 when the human development department of our country declared 11th November as national education day in India. Numerous exciting and informative seminars, rallies, and essay symposiums are conducted at various schools on this day across the country. Every institution aims to bring students and teachers closer to ensure educational improvement. This day is celebrated to perceive the importance of literacy and the country’s commitment to all aspects of education.
First National Education Day was celebrated in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, by the contemporary president, Pratibha Patil.
Maulana Abul Kalam Azad started from scratch and made India what it is today with the significant contribution of the educational department. Schools, universities and even government offices observe this day.
Every year, there are different themes for this day. The theme of this National Education Day 2022 is set as “Changing course, transforming education.” The ultimate aim of every theme is to pay tribute to the contribution of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.
National Education Day is celebrated with a motto behind it. Our education board has always aimed to provide students with the best possible education. The primary motto is always to let children learn about the importance of our freedom fighters who made India what it is today.
