Ordering Numbers (Grade 1)

Class 1Numbers 1 to 9

Ordering numbers means arranging them from the smallest to the biggest, or from the biggest to the smallest.

When we put numbers from small to big, it is called ascending order. When we put numbers from big to small, it is called descending order.

What is Ordering Numbers (Grade 1) - Class 1 Maths (Numbers 1 to 9)?

Ascending order = smallest first, biggest last (going up). Example: 2, 5, 7, 9

Descending order = biggest first, smallest last (going down). Example: 9, 7, 5, 2

A number line always shows numbers in ascending order:

1 — 2 — 3 — 4 — 5 — 6 — 7 — 8 — 9
