It is located third from the Sun. It's quite amazing just from that. Oceans, air, soil, trees, animals, and billions of people all exist on Earth. This is where we have everything we need to survive. We become more aware of how fortunate we are to live on Earth when we learn more about it.

Earth is a planet on which we live. We acquire the concept of a year from its orbit around the Sun, which takes precisely 365 days to complete. Because Earth is neither too close nor too far from the Sun, its temperature is ideal for the comfort of humans, animals, and plants.

Water covers more than half of the planet. Because of all the oceans, it appears primarily blue when viewed from space. The remainder is land, covered with deserts, rivers, mountains, and forests.

What really sets Earth apart from every other planet is that it has air we can breathe and water we can drink. No other planet we have found so far gives us both of those things. That is what makes Earth so special.

Think about where you are sitting right now. You are on a giant rock called Earth, flying through space at thousands of miles per hour. Sounds wild, right? But that is exactly what is happening. Earth is the third planet from the Sun, and it has been around for about 4.5 billion years. In all that time, it slowly turned into the world we know today, full of oceans, forests, mountains, and living things of every kind.

One of the first things people notice when they see Earth from space is how blue it looks. That is because about 71% of the surface is water. Most of that is in the oceans. The rest of Earth is made up of seven big pieces of land called continents, each one with its own weather, animals, and geography.

Earth also has something very important wrapped around it, the atmosphere. It is basically a layer of air that surrounds the entire planet. This air is what we breathe every day. Additionally, it shields the planet from the Sun's damaging radiation and keeps it warm. No living thing could exist here without it. 

The Earth rotates once every 24 hours, giving us day and night. And every 365 days, it goes all the way around the Sun, which gives us one full year, along with the four seasons.

But here is the thing. Earth is not doing so great right now. We are generating gases that are gradually warming the globe, cutting down trees, and disposing of plastic in the seas. These things are hurting the air, water, and land that we all depend on.

We only have one Earth. There is no backup plan. So it really is up to all of us, every single person, to treat it better before it is too late.
