What Is Past Tense?

The past tense of a verb is used to talk about an action or event that has already happened in the past. It helps us describe things that occurred earlier, such as yesterday, last week, or a long time ago. In most cases, the past tense is formed by adding “-ed” to the base form of the verb. There are four different types of past tense: simple past tense, past continuous tense, past perfect tense, and past perfect continuous tense.

The table given below shows the structure of the types of past tense.
