Adding and Subtracting Money

Class 2Money (Grade 2)

When we buy things, we add prices to find the total cost. When we give money and get change back, we subtract. In Class 2, we learn to add and subtract money amounts in rupees.

Adding and subtracting money works just like adding and subtracting numbers. We just write the ₹ sign before the answer!

What is Adding and Subtracting Money - Class 2 Maths (Money (Grade 2))?

Adding money means finding the total when we combine two or more amounts.

Subtracting money means finding what is left after spending, or finding the change we get back.

Total cost = Price 1 + Price 2 + ...   |   Change = Money given − Total cost

  • Adding money is like adding numbers — just put ₹ before the answer.
  • Subtracting money helps us find change or how much is left.
  • Total cost = Add all prices together.
  • Change = Money given − Cost.
  • Use carrying (regrouping) for addition and borrowing for subtraction when needed.
