Rishi Sunak, the present prime minister of the UK, is our nation’s sensation now. Every feed on social media platforms, every news channel, and portal is showing only one face, Rishi Sunak. In the recent election for prime minister held in Conservative party of Britain, Rishi Sunak was elected as the next prime minister of Britain. In the legacy of 56 prime ministers, Rishi Sunak is the first Indian who happens to be the right fit for the chair to strengthen Britain’s economy.
This is the moment of immense pride when a country who ruled Indians for over 200 years now in dire need of an Indian to recover their wretched economy. The man who achieved that power and took India to such grandeur has so many things to teach us. Indians have always made their country proud wherever they were. Let us show our children this idol to boost their confidence up a bit more.
Do you know about Rishi Sunak’s Indian origin? Rishi Sunak was born in Southampton to Indian parents of Punjabi descendants, Yeshvir and Usha Sunak. They migrated to Britain in 1960 from East Africa. His parents wanted to give a comfortable childhood and he indeed made the best out of that.
The man who achieves so much puts his footprints in every section of his life. There is no exception with Rishi Sunak as well. After completing his schooling from Stroud School, he joined Winchester College, an independent boys’ boarding school. He was the headboy there. So, a sense of leader’s was there within him from the very childhood. He learned Philosophy, Economics and Politics in his college days at Lincoln College, Oxford. Just after graduating from this college, he joined Stanford University to pursue his MBA and graduated as a scholar. He worked as an analyst for the investment bank Goldman Sachs. In 2004, he joined hedge fund management firm, The Children Investment Fund Management. But from a mere employee, he became a partner of the company in just two years in 2006. When Rishi left The Children Investment Fund Management in 2009 to join former colleagues in California at a new hedge fund firm, he was respected by his fellow workers.
The billionaire Narayan Murthy, the co-founder of Infosys, is the father-in-law of the UK prime minister Rishi Sunak. He met his daughter, Akshata Murthy during his university days in Stanford. Akshata is the director of her father’s investment firm, Catamaran Ventures and runs her own fashion designing brand.
A man who touches the peak, must bag a lot of achievements. Before Rishi Sunak became UK prime minister, he served as a chancellor to the Conservative Party and lived a life as a business owner. A strictly organised lifestyle has put him where he is today. Before we highlight qualities in his personal, professional, and political career, let’s delve deeper into his achievements:
Let’s see how Rishi Sunak, the Prime Minister has been full of potential from his childhood.
Rishi’s journey from Stroud School to Stanford University was not as smooth as it seems. Constant fighting spirit was his driving force for all these years that is now reflecting in his future endeavours.
Rishi has always been connected to reality and his dreams and goals had an alignment. Often our children cannot fulfil their goal and become a victim of depression. If you can bring them up with a sense of innate wisdom and understanding of his surroundings, he will thrive to be as potential as Rishi Sunak.
Hunger for knowledge drives us towards our ultimate destination. Rishi’s hunger for knowledge opened a new arena before him where he learned politics, philosophy and economics at the same time. Not only knowledge, the application of these three has reached him where he is today.
“What, my son will be a waiter?! Never!” How many Indian parents do you know who will say this? Many, right? So, let me tell you one thing. This prime minister of Britain who is making the entire India proud served a waiter at a curry house in Southampton during his summer holidays. Yes, this is how a great personality rises. They are not born in one day.
Some values that he braided in his professional life inspire us further.
Sunak started his latest endeavour with his ex-colleague. That implies that he is respected by his co-workers.
He has been consistent with his endeavours and made himself financially independent and successful. He became a director of investment firm Catamaran Ventures, owned by his father-in-law, N.R Narayana Murthy, the founder of Infosys, between 2013-2015.
To reach somewhere, you have to leave your current position at the right time. Otherwise, you will feel stuck and cannot move further. So, making the right decision at the perfect time is very important. Rishi did that at every phase of his life and life has rewarded him with everything he deserved.
At the age of 42, Rishi Sunak has become the prime minister of Britain. If this is not the peak of success, what is? But, nothing comes overnight and it has also not come so. His perseverance and leadership potential have always been his guiding lights.
Sunak has been one of those political leaders in the history of British politics who have been promoted slowly but steadily. He was selected as Conservative candidate in 2014 for Richmond defeating Wendy Morton. Then, he became MP for the constituency in 2015. In 2019, he was appointed as chief secretary to the Treasury by Prime Minister Boris Johnson. In 2020, he became the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Sunak supported Brexit, a proposal of separating the UK from the EU (European Union). He took charge of his action and now has taken hold of the parliament to strengthen the country’s economy.
As Gandhiji has been the idol of all Millennials, Rishi Sunak can be the guiding star for the upcoming generations. He taught us how to make one’s own way through boldness, patience, hard work and consistency. In 2022, when the world is going through so many turmoils, we got an Indian to look upto who is holding Indians head high before the world.
