<p>Rabindranath Tagore was born on May 7, 1861, in Kolkata, India. His father, Debendranath Tagore, was a leader of the Brahmo Samaj, a religious and social reform movement. His mother, Sarada Devi, was a devout woman who had a great influence on Rabindranath’s early life.</p>
<p>Rabindranath was educated at home by tutors, and in 1877 he was sent to England to study law. However, he returned to India without completing his degree. In 1880, he married Mrinalini Devi, and they had five children together.</p>
